Alamitos Condors Working Together

Many of the factors that make today’s students feel connected or bond with their school are the same ones that made us feel good about school experiences when we were students…
  • being known and appreciated
  • being part of something bigger
  • being included
  • being cared for
  • being in a comfortable environment where learning can take place

How do students feel connected at Alamitos?

  • receiving good grades on a test or an assignment
  • participate in after school or lunch time sports
  • volunteering to clean up the campus
  • decorating the before dances
  • taking part in the limo lunch
  • helping other students
  • dressing up on theme days
  • being recognized by a teacher
  • being a member of the Honors and Condor Clubs
  • performing in choral or instrumental concerts
  • sharing an idea in class that is praised by the teacher and fellow students
  • experiencing success
  • attending after school tutoring

How can parents help their children feel more connected to school?
Parents can…
  • discuss you children’s day at school with them
  • set reasonable, yet high expectations
  • applaud positive peer choices
  • place importance on their report cards and discuss grades
  • praise liberally for extracurricular and curricular successes
  • encourage them to be involved clubs, sports, and other activities
  • continue to be involved in the STPA and volunteer on campus
  • attend their events and activities

Alamitos staff is dedicated to making all Alamitos students feel connected at school, which greatly increases the likelihood that they will attain both academic and social success. We want our students to know that they are an important part of the Alamitos community. We get to know our students and we try to help them get to know one another. Our goal is for all Alamitos students to have fond memories of the middle school years, because of the academic success they achieved and the positive relationships they made.
