AT RISK STUDENTS
SEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS
Students who fail to earn passing grades or
achieve proficiency in certain subjects may be required to attend
summer school classes.
EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS
Students not meeting district standards face the possibility of
retention.
Any student scoring Far Below Basic or Below Basic on English
Language Arts and/or Math on the CST’s may be required to take a
remedial class as an elective.
COMMENCEMENT
Eighth graders must have an accumulative GPA of a 1.0 or higher to
be eligible for commencement ceremonies. Students being considered
for retention will not be permitted to participate in commencement.
Also, students with any outstanding fines or lost textbooks will
need to clear fines in order to participate in commencement.
REPORT CARDS
The school year is divided into 4 quarters. Grades will be given for
work done during each quarter. Each new quarter is a new beginning,
an opportunity to start over. At the end of each quarter, you will
be evaluated on ACHIEVEMENT, CITIZENSHIP, and WORK HABITS. Report
cards will be mailed home at the end of each quarter.
PROGRESS REPORTS
Progress reports will be mailed to some students approximately 4 to
5 weeks before the report card. This serves as a warning to you and
your parents of a possible low grade, incomplete assignments, or
unsatisfactory citizenship or work habits. This “warning” gives you
enough time to improve your grades before the end of the quarter.
Special reports may be sent home to your parents at any time if you
have any incomplete assignments or failing work.
Bimonthly grade checks
may be provided with a
written parent request.
I.D. CARDS
At the beginning of the school year you will be given a photo I.D.
card. This card will be required to purchase dance tickets, check
out books from the Media Center, or use the Internet (parent
permission required). If you lose your I.D. card, you will be
required to purchase another for $5.00 through the Media Center.
USE OF SCHOOL TELEPHONES
A pay phone is located at the front of the school. This phone may
not be used during school hours. Arrangements for transportation
home or to other locations must be made prior to your coming to
school. The school telephone is not allowed to be used without
permission.
LOST & FOUND
Lost and found is located in the attendance office.
CHANGE OF ADDRESS
If you move or get a new phone number, notify the office
immediately. It is important that parents can be reached promptly in
an emergency.
TRANSPORTATION
BICYCLES:
Students who ride bicycles are to park and lock
them in the area provided. Bikes are not to be ridden on the campus
at any time. Please do not bring a bike if you do not have a lock.
By
law, minors are required to wear helmets.
REMINDER
Skateboards, scooters, and rollerblades are
not to be ridden or carried on campus.
FOOD & BEVERAGES
Breakfast and Lunch are offered at Alamitos. Your I.D. number is
required to purchase food. You may pay in line, prepay, or apply for
free or reduced meals by filling out an application in the main
office.
Food is to be eaten in designated areas only.
CELLULAR PHONES
Cellular phones are brought to school at your own risk. They are to
be carried in your backpack or purse, not your pockets or clipped to
your belt. Cellular phones must be off and not taken out during the
school day. Cellular phones may be confiscated if students are using
or playing with it during school time. Parents will then be required
to pick up the cellular phone from the administration.
Consequences will be assigned for repeated offenses.
MEDICATION TAKEN AT SCHOOL
You are not allowed to take or have any type of medication at
school, unless there is a written statement from the doctor. Only
medication involving special or serious problems should be scheduled
for administration during school hours. Office personnel will
administer the medication.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION
You will be required to change into a P.E. uniform and participate
in the Physical Education program. You will be required to purchase
a lock from school. If you forget your uniform, you will be issued
“loaner” clothes which will negatively affect your grade.
TEXTBOOKS
You will be “loaned” textbooks for all of your
classes. Once that book is in your possession, you are responsible
for it until the end of the semester, the school year, or when you
transfer to another school. If you lose or damage your books beyond
normal use, you will have to pay a fine.
ALL BOOKS AT ALAMITOS MUST BE
COVERED. You can make a book cover
yourself from heavy paper or a brown paper
bag. We also provide a limited number of book covers.
